Palistine, Texas - Georgia Raye Slater, 93, of Palistine, Texas, formerly of Gordon, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at a Palistine, Texas Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Gordon Church of God. Interment will be in the Gordon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for "Open Doors" Moriah Ministries or the Mid-American Bible College. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. She was born Nov. 5, 1905, at Newcastle, Neb. to Felix and Mary (Mae) Nern. She grew up in the Sandhills south of Gordon. She graduated from Gordon High School in 1923. She had been active in the Gordon Church of God and Midwest Bible School. She is survived by son Stan of Lompoc, Calif. and Maurice of Oklahoma City, Oka.; sister Faye Baker of Lusk, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
