Sylvia A. Deese, 67, of Punta Gorda, FL died February 13, 2007 at her residence. She was born November 8, 1939 in Lake Providence, LA. She was a homemaker and after her children had grown, she traveled with her husband as a team driver, owner/operator of an over the road trucking business. She was very active in her childrens activities and sports as they were growing up. She was loved and respected by her children, grandchildren and all their friends. Sylvia enjoyed playing bingo. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy Church as well as the Abundant Life Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Daniel Deese of Punta Gorda; children, James and Tara Deese of Orrville, OH; Rickey and Cheryl Deese of Inman, SC; Dora and Jim Smith, Julie and Pat Holland, all of Punta Gorda; sisters, Judy Weaver of Okeechobee, FL and Lynda Green of Huddleston, VA; brother, Horace Lee Slaughter; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her daughter Teresa Norton-Campisi in 2003 and her son, William Buddy Norton on February 9, 2007
The Visitation will be from 1:00 pm till 2:30 pm Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Church of God of Prophecy, 662 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda, with the Rev Dan Hurlburt officiating.
The family has requested contributions in memory of Sylvia be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, 662 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Kays-Ponger Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Punta Gorda Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
