Leah Jane Jewett, 73, Port Charlotte, died Nov. 8, 1997.
She was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Marmet, W.Va., and came to Port Charlotte 20 years ago from Dayton, Ohio. She was the owner of Jane's Salon in Germantown, Ohio. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte.
Survivors include two sons, Harold L. Samms of Monroeville, Pa., and Robert J. Samms of Chesapeake, W.Va.; a daughter, Sylvia A. Handlon of Port Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be no local services. Burial will be in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens. Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, is in charge.
Memorial donations may be made to Tampa General Hospital, c/o Tampa Burn Center, Davis Island, Tampa, FL. 33601.
