Guthrie: Sibyl Ohlsen Coffey, 91, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Guthrie, OK.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, OK at a later date.

Sibyl was born Saturday, November 23, 1918 in Rush Springs, OK, to William Stacy and Margaret Cary Stacy. Sibyl attended school in Ninnekah and graduated from high school in 1936. She then attended college at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and graduated in 1940 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Speech. She spent 40 years in the teaching profession all over the world. In 1945 Sibyl married Henry Ohlsen in Berkley, California. They made their home in San Francisco, California. The two moved to Germany in 1949 where she taught school. In the 60s they moved back to California. Henry preceded her in death in 1977. Sibyl later married Charlie Coffey in Reno, Nevada in 1980 and moved to Salinas, California. She taught at Salinas Union High School until her retirement in 1981. They moved to Mooreland in 1996 to be near her sister. Charlie preceded her in death on February 2, 1997. Sibyl was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Women of the Moose, and the Outstanding Educators of the World.

Survivors include daughter, Barbara Mallory of Guthrie, OK; 3 grandchildren, Steven Roy Mallory, Baron Mallory, Eric Ohlsen; 2 great-grandchildren, Coby Steven Mallory, Kasha "Kiki" Ohlsen; 2 sisters, Dorothy Davies of Hawaii, Jo Pack and husband, Marvin of Mooreland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Steven Ohlsen, and brother, George Stacy.
