Edward was educated in the district school and attended Mt. Blanchard High School. He was a teacher in the schools of Hancock co. until his health failed and he had to give up teaching. After he gave up teaching he became a farmer. He owned 80 acres of his father's farm in Jackson Township. He farmed until he was too old for this type of work and retired to Houcktown.
