He died on October 14, 1918 during his service in France, and lies buried today in Plot D, Row 10, Grave 7 in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France.

His family erected a cenotaph for him in their plot in the Frenchtown Cemetery, Frenchtown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
