-----FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -— JoAnne S. Calhoun, 80, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at her home.
Born Sept. 4, 1929, in Marlinton, W.Va., she was the wife of the late Gerard "Jerry" P. Calhoun and the daughter of the late H.R. Shields and Nova H. (Marshall) Shields.
She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, Frostburg Women of the Moose 348, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Frostburg, the Red Hat Society and was a dedicated contributor and supporter of Teen Town in the sixties. She loved playing bridge and was an avid football fan.
Surviving are her son, Mich-ael S. Calhoun, Cumberland; her daughter, Candace K. Calhoun, Frostburg; three grandchildren, Matthew S. Calhoun and wife Kathy, Nicole A. McKinley and husband Michael McKinley and Kelly A. Calhoun, Frostburg; and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Josie and Alexandra Calhoun.
Friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Ridge High School Athletic program or to the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
