Donna Jane Derryberry of Corvallis died Thursday, Aug. 26, in Corvallis. She was 71.
She was born in Salem to Merritt E. and Sophia G. Stewart Hart. She grew up and attended schools in Dallas. She graduated from Dallas High School in 1951 and attended Oregon State University.
She married S. Lamont Matthews in 1954. They later divorced.
She married Frank Derryberry Sr. in 1975, at the United Methodist Church in Corvallis.
She was a homemaker and hospital volunteer while raising her children. In 1975 she began a career as an administrative assistant at the OSU Alumni Office, where she coordinated the group travel program, class reunions and picnics, and handled various office management duties.
After she retired in 1993, she enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Mexico on winter vacations. She spent many happy times with family and friends at the log cabin she and Frank shared in the Cascade foothills.
She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing Scrabble and painting watercolors. She was an avid fan of her grandchildren's accomplishments.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Kelly Yoder and Cindy Hodgson; son, Ed Matthews; stepsons, DeWayne and Frank Derryberry Jr.; stepdaughters, Carroll Butler and Rosie Wilder; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the OHSU Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research, the Vina Moses Center, or the Corvallis United Methodist Church.
