John Frederic (Fred) Kemp, 65, died in a San Antonio hospital Wednesday, October 16. Funeral services were held from the Orchard Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Friday, with Rev. W.A. Menking of Needville officiating. Burial was in the Orchard Cemetery.
Mr. Kemp was born September 1, 1881 in Kempton, Indiana. He moved to Texas in the fall of 1906 and married Miss Mata Mahler of Orchard on July 1, 1908. His mother died before the family moved to Texas and his father died in 1925.
He is survived by his wife and one son, David Kemp, of Orchard; a sister, Mrs. Flossie Lindley of Atlanta, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Frank Roper, Max Reinecker, C.L. Mudd, Joe Hede, Henry Roper, and Marshall Cook. The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg directed.
