DEATH: Obituary;
Buckley Edward Tipton, 87, of Palatka, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the Orange Park Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Turley, Tenn., he had resided in Palatka since 1980, coming from Waldo. He had retired as a master electrician. He was also a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Tipton of Palatka; three sons, Robert Fields Tipton of Gainesville and Stanley and Derrick Tipton, both of Georgia; two daughters, a sister and numerous grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at River Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Perry and the Rev. Joe Floyd officiating. Military honors will be bestowed by the U.S. Army.
Johnson-Overturf Funeral home and Crematory of Palatka is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Robert Eugene Fields. His biological parents were John Edward Fields and Marietta Miranda Daughtery both of Tennessee. When his father was killed he was adopted by Buckley E. Tipton.
