Robert Fair shot and killed Enos in front of the Gordon hardware store. According to the Gordon Journal, he was acting in self defense.
Bob Fair was known in the county as "Dynamite Bob". He knew his way with dynamite, and was trusted by the local farmers to rid them of stumps and trees in the fields.
On one occasion, Dynamite Bob, told a story to a young boy, whose story states that he killed only three men in his lifetime. One of those men was Enos Doty of Cody, Nebraska.
