Frederick Bay one of Blissfield's best known and highly respected citizens died at the home of his daughter Mrs Kenneth B Glaser in this viilage, last Friday evening of apoplexy, at 5 o clock, after an illness of a month.
Mr Bay was a product of Lenawee county, having been born in Ogden Township February 12 1848, and was educated in the district schools of that township. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted as a private in Company K, First Michigan infantry, and served until mustered out at the close of the strife.
Mr Bay was a succesful farmer and in Ogden township cleared a trct of land, which he developed into a fine farm. In 1906 he left Ogden township, Purchasing a farm in Palmyra township, where he resided until coming to Blissfield a short time ago.
Mr Bay was an ardent Republican, and was honored by his party with a call to office, serving the people of Ogden in the capacity of Supervisor and Justice of the Peace. For eight yearshe held a position under the state administration as Deputy oil inspector. He was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow fraternities, the G.A.R. and Grange.
The funeral services were held from the house Monday afternoon at 12.30 and at Zion church at 1.30
