S. C. Eubanks having been troubled by intruders prowling around his home near Dupont for some time and decided to catch the guilty parties and for some time has had a shotgun fixed on his back porch with a cord attached to the trigger of the gun so the weapon would be discharged by anyone entering the porch. Sunday night [July 31st] about 10 o'clock W. E. Daye, for some cause, went upon the porch from the outside without the knowledge of Eubanks when he came in contact with the cords and fired off the gun, receiving a mortal wound from which he died early Monday morning.
