He was an assistant pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, Teaneck, and New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Englewood. He was a former associate pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Leonia, and the Community Baptist Church, Englewood. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 58, Englewood. He was a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Englewood.
