Albin Hultgren, 55, a life-long resident of Hopewell Township, passed away at his home shortly after midnight, Monday, November 20, 1944, following an illness of about two months duration. He was up and about his work until the last two weeks, when his condition rapidly became worse.
He was the son of the late Allen Hultgren and his wife, Minnie, and was born in Hopewell, October 10, 1889. He was confirmed in the First Lutheran Church at Varna, April 3, 1904, by the late C. A. Petersen, and remained a faithful and devoted member until his death. He served as a deacon for many years.
He was married to Maude Extrom, December 3, 1913, by the late Rev. D. C. Lofgren, and moved to a farm in Hopewell Township, where he resided for 31 years, until his passing. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Gordon, at home, and Master Sergeant Milton E. Hultgren, who is stationed near Whitehorse, Canada, also his aged mother, Mrs. Minnie Hultgren, two sisters, Miss Ethel Hultgren and Mrs. Bertha Anderson, and one brother, Jalmer Hultgren, all of Varna, and a large number of relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the house and at 2:30, at the First Lutheran Church in Varna, Rev. Carl Olson officiating.
Burial was in the Salem Cemetery (First Lutheran Cemetery #!) north of Varna, A. C. Lindbloom of Henry was in charge of the services.
Pallbearers were five deacons of the church: Mauritz Stromgren, Floyd Smith, Elof Hylin, Osca Flesburg, and Elmer Flesburg, and a cousin, Arthur Hultgren.
