OBITUARY:

Neal L. Johnson, 62, passed away June 5, 2007 at his home in Newburgh. Neal was born in Stonington on September 29, 1944, the son of Oscar and Harriet (Lemoine) Johnson.

Neal grew up in Stonington where he graduated from Stonington High School, class of 1963. Upon his graduation he entered the United States Air Force. Neal was a police officer for the Hampden Police Department for 10 years and took great pride in being "Officer Friendly". After leaving the police force he was a sales representative for E.A. Buschmann Industrial Supply for 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed his animals, wood working, gardening, camping, hiking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all who knew him.

Neal is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie Johnson of Newburgh, two daughters, Melissa A. Beaton of Glenburn, and Cassandra "Sandi" L. Johnson of Brewer, three sisters, Barbara Boyce of Deer Isle, Betty Lawson of Stonington, and Brenda Witham and husband Lawrence "Larry" of Sebec, four grandchildren, Mikele, Cole, Abigail, and Megan, one aunt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barry and Anna Snow, and a special friend Steve Collins. Neal was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Harriet, by a nephew, James Neal Campbell and a grand nephew, Christopher Martin.

Family and friends may visit 1-3 P.M. and 4-6 P.M., Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A graveside service will be held 1 P.M., Monday, June 11, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville Road, Stonington, conducted by Chaplain Maria Guereca of Eastern Maine Medical Center.
