Betty Cannon Turner April 17, 2008

ASHEVILLE – Betty Cannon Turner entered into eternal glory on Thursday, April 17, 2008.
Betty was born in Clayton, Ga. on July 25, 1917. She spent the majority of her life caring for and ministering to her family and the numerous "adopted others" that God placed within her reach. She had the special gift of hospitality and offered her home and table to anyone in need of a loving touch or home cooked meal. She was a prolific gardener, wonderful cook and expert seamstress. Her gifts of special pillows and blankets are in countless homes.
She married her best friend and companion, Raymond "Nub" Turner, in 1941. They were totally devoted to one another for 63 grand years until his passing in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and John Davidson, brother, Richard Cannon; son, Dan Turner and son-in-law, Wayne J. Roberson.
Betty accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was a teenager and served as a member of the Druid Hills United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Ga. She became a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. In her later years, she was a faithful participant at Newbridge Baptist Church in Asheville.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Roberson of Weaverville; daughter-in-law, Ann Turner of Moncks Corner, S.C., special nephew, Robert Turner and wife Diane of Douglasville, Ga.; five grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and numerous "adopted others."

Services are planned for 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga.

The family will greet friends following the service Sunday at the funeral home.
