Billie I. Miller, 56, Yorktown, died today in Ball Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Forney, Texas, Mrs. Miller came to Muncie in 1944 and graduated from Central High School and Ball State University, where she earned a master's degree in elementary education.
She was a teacher for 20 years. Mrs. Miller first taught at Daleville Elementary School and spent most of her teaching career at Yorktown Elementary School. She was a member of the Yorktown United Methodist Church, the Yorktown Women's Club and Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Miller; two sons, Robert H. Miller III, New Castle, and Donald Miller, Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Ann Reed, Muncie; her mother, Mrs. Okley Irby, Muncie; and a brother, Lev Irby Jr., Muncie; a sister, Jean Fisher, Elkhart, and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 6-9 p.m. tomorrow. Memorials may be sent to the Delaware County Cancer Society.
