Mineral Motel Owner Passes
"Hawthorne - Harry J. Settergren, 58, owner of the Willow Motel, died in Hawthorne at the local hospital, June 14.
Mr. Settergren was born in Chicago, Ill., and worked for Commonwealth Edison Electric Co., for 30 years. He was active in Boy Scout work, serving as advancement chairman for the Portage Park District. He was a member of the Royal Order of Moose in Chicago. After moving to Hawthorne four years ago, he built the Willow Motel and Cafe. He was also employed by the Mineral County Power System. Mr. Settergren is survived by his widow, Margaret Settergren; four children, Rudy Settergren, Caroline Wentlandt, Harry Settergren Jr., and Violet Spriggs; seven grandchildren, Jackie and Judy Settergren, Jane and Jennie Wentlandt, Harry and LeRoy Spriggs Jr., Harry Settergren III, all of Hawthorne.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00 at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. R. Busch presiding. Burial was in the Hawthorne Cemetery.
