Joel Carter Goodloe age 90, died at his home west of Las Cruces. He was the only son of Sperry Hill and Birdie Margaret Carter Goodloe, born on Dec. 1, 1903 in Nashville, TN.
In 1922 his family moved to Las Cruces, NM. He returned to Nashville to marry Nancy E. Stonestreet on 25 Feb. 1926, and made their home in Las Cruces.
He was survived by his wife, Nancy S. Goodloe, their only child, Nancy G. Osborn and her husband Harry R. of Deming, NM. Also, he was survived by a granddaughter Margaret, her husband Leslie W., and their two daughters, Heather C. and Tamara D. of Las Cruces; grandson Victor, and his wife Elizabeth R., and their two daughters, Lorraine E. and Jeannette L. of Carmel, IN; niece Barbara Lane, her husband James and their son Christopher of Lake Charles, LA; goddaughter Peggy Darby and her husband Michael of Franklin, TN.
He had been a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church since 1922.
Carter Goodloe served as the commanding officer of Third Company New Mexico State Guard during WWII.
Graveside services were conducted at the Masonic Cemetery by Dr. Larry Hall of St. Paul's Methodist Church.
Arrangements were with Graham Mortuary in Las Cruces.
