Death of Hon. J. M. Pearson.

Hon. James M. Pearson, Tax Collector of Chambers County, one of our most respected fellow citizens, died at the home of Mr. J. W. Danielly in this city Monday morning, Nov. 11th at 11:00 o'clock. He was born July 25, 1854 and had lived almost all of his life in this county. He leaves one son and four daughters, Mrs. W. B. Nichols, Miss Maggie and Mr. John Q. Pearson, of this city; Mrs. L. P. Montgomery, of Cusseta, and Mrs. C. C. Fuller, of Buffalo Route One. Mr. Pearson was a consistent member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church and it was there that the funeral services were held yesterday morning at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Elder J. T. Satterwhite. A large assembly of relatives and friends attended the funeral.
Mr. James M. Pearson was honored and trusted by his fellow citizens, having just been re-elected to the responsible position of tax collector of the County. He was in all respects a fine citizen; he was faithful to every obligation that was placed upon him in all the relations of life; he was a devoted and thoughtful father and had no greater joy than the happiness and prosperity of his children. The religious character of Mr. Pearson was of a high type; he believed in God and tried to live in His fear every day. A friend and helper to those who were in need of friends and helpers, he had friends wherever he was known. Kind and generous, loyal and true, his death will bring sincere sorrow to every community in the County. The Sun joins in expressing sympathy for the bereaved children; may their father's God be to each one of them the blessed comforter through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
