VIRGINIA BEACH - Phyllis A. Ailsworth, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Thursday, July 22, 2010, of natural causes.
She was a former vice president of Merle Norman Cosmetics. Phyllis was born March 21, 1937, in Deltaville the daughter of the late Robert D. and Lelia B. Ailsworth.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Robert D. Ailsworth; and sisters, Evelyn Apsley and Amanda Payne.
Phyllis was a graduate of Middlesex High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Westhampton College in Richmond and a graduate degree from UCLA. She was a retired high school teacher, having taught in California, Richmond and several other schools in Virginia.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Virginia Steinmetz of Sarasota, Fla., James Ailsworth of California, Alfred Ailsworth of Deltaville, Betty Fuller of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dorothy Burroughs of Hudgins, Mike Ailsworth of Oak Hill and Patricia Gwitt of Dunwoody, Ga.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, Deltaville.
