Mr. Edward Covington Moore owned the Dodge- Plymouth auto dealership in downtown Murphy, NC for many years. The building is still known as the E. C. Moore building and is located at 33 Valley River Avenue. Edward Moore came to Murphy in 1910 from Clay County, and he descended from the first white settlers to locate to the Tusquittee Creek area in 1830. E.C. Moore went into the jewelry business first with his brother, John B. Moore. E. C. Moore was married to Fannie Johnson. Mr. Moore also served on the Murphy Town Council and as a County Commissioner for Cherokee County.
