Vernon B. Duke Strain was the son of George Henry Strain and Ettie Barbara. He married Della Matilda Alfrey, the daughter of James Samuel Alfrey.

They had two children:

On the 1900 Earlsboro, Pottawatomie, OK census, I found farmer George Strain, 39, born May 1861 in IN; wife of 10 years, Ettie Strain, 26, Dec 1873 in MO, had 2 kids, 2 living; Clyde C Strain, 8, Aug 1891 in IN and Duke F Strain, 3, Sep 1896 in OK.

On the 1910 Earlsboro, Pottawatomie, OK census, I found George H. Strain, 42, AR born, married 20 years to wife Ettie F., 32, KS, had 6 kids, 5 living (all OK born): Clide C., 18; DUKE B., 13; Ester F., 9; George H. Jr., 8 and Hazle B.. 4.

On the 1920 Earlsboro, Pottawatomie, OK census, I found department store salesman Vernon B. Strain, 23, Oklahoma born and wife Della M., 22, Missouri born.

On the 1930 Earlsboro, Pottawatomie, OK census, I found grocery manager V. Duke Strain, 32, OK, owns home valued at $4,500, married at age 20 to wife Della, 31, MO, at age 19; daughter Geraldine, 8, OK and 3 roomers.

Vernon Duke Strain's World War I Draft Registration Card #197 was registered at Shawnee, OK. He was born on 19 Sep 1896 in Earlsboro, OK. He is tall, medium build, with light brown eyes and dark brown hair.
