Shirley was Early Learning substitute teacher at her Church in the 1980s. She also substitute taught in the Prince Georges County School system for many years in the 1960's. Shirley had a great love of teaching children. She was known for her creativity in making things to teach the children.
Shirley had graduated as a Commercial Artist. She was very talented. She did many charcoal and pastel drawings. She began painting in her later years with her close friends, Dorothy and Debbie.
She also devoted much time to maintaining the Library at her Church and participated in the Senior Citizens group.
