Charles C. Blesener, for more than seventy years a resident of the Greenvale community, died at his home on Monday morning, November 3, following a lingering illness. The funeral was held in the Church of the Annunciation at Hazelwood at 10;00 o'clock the following Wednesday. Rev. P.F. Meade was celebrant at the solemn high Mass. Rev. John O'Donnell and Rev. Anthony Kaesen as deacon and sub-deacon, assisted. The choir of St. Dominic's Church of Northfield sang the Mass. Burial was made in the Hazelwood cemetery.
Charles C. Blesener was born in Dickerich, Luxemburg, Germany, and came with his parents in 1854. They spent the winter in Mobile, Alabama, coming to Minnesota in the spring. They settled in Greenvale and Mr. Blesener has continuously made his home on the homestead there.
On December 29, 1869, Mr. Blesener was married to Miss Mary Decker if Northfield, who with five children survive. The children are: Frank Edward, Elizabeth and Tressa of this community and Mrs. Peter Geifer (Blanche) of St. Paul. One son died in infancy.
On June 13, 1923, Mr. Blesener suffered a stroke of apoplexy and on November 1, he suffered a second stroke which resulted in his death on Monday morning.
