RITES MONDAY FOR SHINGLETON CRASH VICTIM
Funeral services were conducted at 2 Monday afternoon in the Bowerman-Hallifax chapel by the Rev. Alfred Pratt, pastor of the Van Meer Baptist, church, for Fred N. Brown, 24, of shingleton, who died Friday night in a highway accident near the city pumping station, 3 miles west of here on M-28. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery Escorts were Lawrence Sawnders, Leslie Graves, Roy Gaves and Harold Brock. Apparently driving at a high speed in a truck owned by Graves Bros., Shingleton timber operators, for whom he was a truck driver. Brown lost control of the car and it left the road struck a tree and rolled over, Sheriff George Thayer reported. Brown was pinned under the truck and his chest was crushed in. The accident occurred about 11:45. Riding with him was Gary Carr, also of Shingleton, who suffered chest injuries and lacerations. He is still in Munising hospital. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Helen: 3 daughters, his father, Chester Brown Sr. Shingleton; a brother Chester of Munising, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
