Clara F. Bair, daughter of Samuel and Eleanor Bair, was born December 20, 1879, at Fairmont, Neb. She departed from this life September 1, 1858, at Fairmont.
She received her education in a country school near Fairmont, and in the high school at Superior.
She was united in marriage to Charles R. Shoemaker of Fairmont November 12, 1902. To this union was born one child, a son, Charles Arlo, who preceded his mother in death, having passed away in 1947.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined the church in girlhood. She served as superintendent of the Sunday school for 15 years and sang in the choir for many years. Mrs. Shoemaker gave freely of her time to all good movements as long as she was physically able to do so. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge; the L. E. A., and had received the Degree of Chivalry in that organization. She was also a member of the Eastern Star lodge.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Charles Shoemaker and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a great many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, at Grace Methodist Church. Rev. George M. Seick officiated. Oliver Moul sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Mrs. A. P. Stewart was accompanist. Pallbearers were Ralph Keil, Clyde Jacobsen, Louis Harling, Russell Snodgrass, Lee Watson and Charles F. Tous. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
