FORT WORTH - Helen Jane Tripp, 90, a retired realty clerk for Army Corps of Engineers, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at local hospital.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Friday 6 to 8 p.m.

Helen Jane was born in Wichita, Kan., on September 12, 1910 to W.V. and Ethel Street. Helen grew up in Wichita and graduated there. One afternoon she and two girls were crossing the street when an old car painted in a calidescope of colors came around the corner with three guys in it. One of those guys was Earl Tripp. That is how they met. It was the best and worst of times. The year was 1934 in Wichita, Kan. America was coming out of the Great Depression but the dark clouds of war were on the horizon when Helen J. Street and Earl A. Tripp were married. As newlyweds they moved to Little Rock, Ark., then to Fort Worth in 1941 seeking employment.

Helen too went to work as many brides back then but family was always paramount to Earl and Helen, who by then were parents to a son, Mike. The young couple knew a good church home was vital in rearing a family so they joined Travis Avenue Baptist Church where they were active members continually since 1941.

Two more children were born to the Tripps, first a daughter, Karen, then another son, Pat. All three children were led by Helen and Earl to become Christians in deed as well as word.

On December 27th at 5 p.m. Helen J. Tripp passed away. Her legacy is faith she both taught her children and practiced herself.

Mrs. Tripp was preceded in death by her husband Earl.

Survivors: Her son, Mike; daughter, Karen Daniel; and son, Pat Tripp, and thier spouses. Also surviving Mrs. Tripp are grandchildren, Sheri Miller, LaNese Hagerich, Dede Franz, Lee Ann Daniel, David Daniel, Jeff Tripp and Jennifer Tripp; and six grandchildren.
