Reuben S. Pittenger was born in Lycoming County, Penn., August 17, 1841, and died in Howell County, Mo., January 17, 1915, aged 73 years and 5 months. Mr. Pittenger's parents moved to Illinois when he was a small boy, where he grew to manhood.

He enlisted in Co. B. [Colonel Farnsworth's ? *HH] 8th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry Regiment.

After the war he moved to Iowa, where in 1870 he was married to Ellen Simpson. To this union where born seven children, five boys and two girls - Orlo S. of Mountain Grove, Mo.; Cora M. Munkers of Drummond, Mont.; Lee W. of Merna, Nebr.; Clyde G. of Mountain View, Mo.; Carl D. of Cody, Wyo.; Milton L. of Crab Orchard, Nebr. and Ruth S. of Mountain View, Mo.

The deceased is survived by His wife, 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Geo. W. Pittenger of Charles City, lowa, and John Pittenger of Binford, N.D.

The wife, five of the children and one grandchild were at the bedside at the time of his death.
Services were held at their home at 10 a.m. January 19. lnterment will be made in the
cemetery at Crab Orchard, Nebr.
Mr. Pittenger was a member and an active worker in the Baptist church at Trask, Mo.
He became member about 1874, at Beliot, Kan., and has lived a consistent Christian life ever since.
Deceased leaves many warm friends here, who tender the sorrowing family and relatives the sincerest sympathy in this, their hour of grief, mourning the loss of a kind and devoted husband, a loving father and a good neighbor and friend.
