Joseph E. Carroll, 74, of 1033 Garfield Ave., Beloit, Wis., died Thursday, Mar. 23, 1995 in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, Ill.
A lifelong Beloit resident, he was born Feb. 27, 1921 in Beloit Township, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Murphy Carroll. He married Marcene Baldocchi on Aug. 19, 1944 in St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit. He graduated from Brother Dutton Elementary and Beloit High School.
Joe farmed in the Beloit area for a number of years. He was the owner and operator of Carroll Redi-Mix in Roscoe, Ill., and later was employed by Ideal Concrete Company in South Beloit, Ill. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marcene; one son, Dennis Daniel Carroll of Beloit; one daughter, Lana Lynn (Thomas) Ahlquist of Loves Park, Ill.; six grandchildren, Denny (Teresa) Carroll, Kim Carroll and Chris Carroll, all of Rockford; Mary (Mark) Shaw of Loves Park, Marcey (Matt) Diwo of Rockford, and Phillip (Jill) Ahlquist of Okinawa, Japan; seven great-grandchildren, Loren and Matthew Carroll, both of Rockford, Francis and Ryan Shaw, both of Loves Park, Megan and Michael Diwo, both of Rockford, and Nicholas Ahlquist of Okinawa, Japan; one brother, Thomas (Bernice) Carroll of Beloit; one sister, Bernice Carroll of South Beloit, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Prayer services will be 11:15 a.m., Monday, Mar. 27, 1995 in the Daley, Murphy, Wisch and Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, followed by a funeral Mass of Christian burial at 12 noon in St. Jude Catholic Church, with Father Bill Connell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, with a Scripture service at 4 p.m.
