Hazel L. Burns, 94, of Urbana died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday (July 24, 2010) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1915 in Paxton to Charles and Helen Babusek Sandstedt. She was preceded in death by one sister. She married Maurice Burns on Jan. 6, 1937 in Covington, Indiana. He died on Nov. 25, 1980.
Survivors include six children, Maureen (Harry) Phelps of New York, Helen (Jerry) Zoellner of Springfield, Joe (Michelle) Burns of Edwardsville, Patrick (Mary) Burns of Springfield, Robert (Cecelia) Burns of Urbana and Cathy (Bill) Chounard of Mahomet; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Sandstedt Jr. of Champaign and two sisters, Ruth Roeder and Judy Starr both of Chicago.
