"E.W. Warfield, 37, Former Resident of Rushville, Expires
Emerson William Warfield, 37, of Detroit, son of Mrs. Addie Pearsey, 215 North Harrison street, died in Bethesda hospital in Cincinnati at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after being found unconscious in a TWA plane arriving in Cincinnati Sunday night.
Exact cause of Warfield's death was not learned here. Hospital officials reported Monday that the Detroit man apparently had taken an overdose of sleeping tablets. His condition had been critical since Sunday night.
Warfield, an employee of the army tank division of the Hudson Motor Company in Detroit, was en route to Rushville to visit his mother when stricken on the commercial plane. He had taken the plane at Detroit.
Born in Manilla May 9, 1904, the deceased was the son of Uriah and Addie Wilks Warfield. He lived in Rushville a number of years and attended local schools. For over 15 years he had been employed in Detroit but returned here frequently to visit relatives. His wife, the former Mildred Mozingo of Rushville, preceded him in death about two years ago.
Besides his mother here he leaves one brother, Verl Warfield of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Clevenger of Indianapolis; and a half-brother, Everett Pearsey of Rushville.
The funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. W.G. Winstead in charge. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Friends may call at his mother's home, 215 North Harrison."
