John Martin Ham, old soldier, pioneer
and respected citizen, died at his
home near Watson Creek, July 5th,
after a long and severe illness.. Deceased
was born in New York State
January 10, 1838, and had been a
lesident of this vicinity for more
than fifty years. He served his coun
try during the Civil War and as a
citizen he was always held in the
highest esteem, going about in his
quiet, pleasing way, a friend to young
and old. He will be missed not only
in his immediate family, but by his
old neighbors and friends who have
known his worth. Funeral services
are being held at the home today,
Rev. Souders officiating, and the reas
mains will be consigned to rest in the Watson Creek Cemetery
