Robert Benjamin Turner (1922-1951), 28, formerly of East Palatka, was instantly killed early today in Ormond Beach when his car left the road at an "S" curve and plunged through a concrete wall on route A1A.

The car caught fire after the crash and the Coroner U. J. Bennett called the case accidental death from high speed driving. Police said the car was traveling 75 to 80 miles per hours.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. W. Pipes Jones, officiating. Requiem mass for the deceased will be at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Interment will be made in the family plot in San Mateo cemetery under the direction of W. Carl Davis & Son Funeral Home. The Vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church will act as pallbearers.

The deceased was born on Nov. 12, 1922, and was recently employed by Commercial Credit Corporation in Daytona Beach. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II as a T/Sgt. in the Medical Corps. He attended school in Gainesville, the University of the South, Suwanee and the University of Denver, Colo., and was a candidate for Holy Orders of the Episcopal Church.

Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Nina Turner and great aunt, Miss Lula Lamb, East Palatka; aunt, Mrs. Alva Phillips of Daytona Beach; uncles, Emory, Abe, Otis, Shelby and Carey Ferrell of San Mateo and Frank Ferrell of Buffalo Bluff. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dated Friday, 19 Jan 1951.)
