Edward Matthew Hickox, 85 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away July 5, 2012 in the McGraw Center for Caring, Jacksonville. He was born November 17, 1926 to Sally Harris and Ivan Taylor Hickox, Sr. in Homeland, Georgia.

He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Hickox was an ordained minister and served as pastor of several churches in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida during the years of his ministry. He was retired from Rayonier Forest Division and was a life member of VFW Post 9560, Folkston, Georgia. He was a current member of Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Hickox was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Helen Hart Hickox; Daughters: Linda (Adrian) Hodges; Gail (Ron) Fowler; Michele (James) Robertson; Sons: Colan Hickox; Jeffrey (Lindi) Gullatt; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends, Nicholas DeNisco and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; six brothers; two daughters: Bonnie Crews and Vonnie Hickox; and wife: Nellie Green Hickox.

Pallbearers: Colby Hickox, Matthew Hodges, Richard Robertson, Raleigh Green, Christopher Lofgren, and Brad Crosby. Honorary Pallbearers: Nicholas DeNisco, Alec Saunders, Delbert Bussard, Donnie Trowell, Doyle Canaday, Keith Canaday, Jessie Crews, Joe Welch, Ronald Green, Ted Green, Ralph Green, and Darren Crews. The family will receive friends Monday evening, July 9, 2012, at Shepard Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at St. George First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Conner and Rev. Ray McKendree officiating. Burial will follow in Conner-Green Cemetery, Hilliard, Florida.
