Daniel was one of many children born to George Byrd (1834-1889; FAG# 13954828) and Anna Elizabeth Smoak(1837-1907; FAG# 13954794). Daniel was born in dooly, Georgia, but whether it is the town of Dooly or the County of Dooly needs to be further researched/confirmed.

Daniel married Anna L. "Annie" Stanford (born either 1873 or 1881, died after 1931; no known memorial) on 04 Oct 1894 in Sumter County, Georgia, USA. They had at least four children.

By 1908, Daniel's first wife Annie has remarried to Robert Lee Hightower (1888-1944; FAG# 96375060). It appears they have no children and are divorced by the 1930 US federal census. Annie appears in the Jacksonville, FL city directory through 1931.

By 1908, Daniel has remarried to Lucy Eve (1890-1966; FAG# 55459982). Daniel is 35 years old and Lucy is about 18 years old. They have at least six children together.

In 1932, Daniel passes away at the age of 58. Lucy joins him in 1966. They are both buried in Clements Chapel Cemetery in Turner County, Georgia. Their son Dewey Wesley and their infant child and Daniel's son Leroy by his first marriage are also buried in Clements Chapel Cemetery.
