Augusta Mae Connell was born the daughter of John Emanuel Connell and Mary Mae Hopkins. She had two brothers and two sisters. She was granddaughter of John Howard Hopkins and wife Elizabeth "Bettie" Hill.

At the death of her husband in 1905, she and her mother and brother and sister moved to eastern Texas near Timpson. There she met and married Allen O Williams and they had a daughter Irene Ruth. Allen died in 1936 and is buried in the Johnson Cemetery near Shawnee, Pottawatmie Co., OK.
