Fern M. Fallowfield, 91, a longtime resident of Blythe, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2010 with her family near her side in Chico, Calif.

She was born in Hartford, Kan. on March 4, 1919, to Emma and Walter Phillips who had five other daughters and three sons.

Fern came to Blythe in 1937 to be with her sister, Lois Bigler, during the birth of Lois' daughter, Dalyne Bigler (Arrasmith).

Fern met and married her late husband, Irving Fallowfield in Blythe. They were happily married for 53 years. The Fallowfields co-owned Blythe Drug for 25 years and then owned Sun Gold Liquor for four years.

They retired to San Diego, one of their favorite vacation spots, after many years in Blythe.

Fern was a member of the Blythe Women's Club and the P.T.A. She was an avid golfer with three "hole-in-ones" to her credit.

Fern was a dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to all. We will miss her more than words can say and cherish the memories of our time together.

Fern and Irving had two sons, both born in Blythe. She is survived by Robert and Criss Fallowfield of Ketchum, Idaho and Jack and Pam Fallowfield of Chico; and two granddaughters, Kelsey and Jamie Fallowfield of Chico. Fern is also survived by her two younger sisters, Faye Nave of Placerville, Calif. and Opal LaBarreare of Ripley, Miss.

Graveside services will be held July 30, 2010 at 9 a.m. at Palo Verde Cemetery.
