Lyle Edwin Gleason, Sr., age 92, has gone to be with our Lord on July 24, 2010. He was born on October 29, 1917 to Ralph and Ada Gleason in Akley, MN. Lyle was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Southern Co. after 36 years but before this job he handmade Krispy Kreme Donuts for several years. Lyle was an active member of Bartlett Hills Baptist Church and also a member for over 50 years at Highland Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, helping others and he had a way of making people laugh. Lyle will be truly missed but he will be in our hearts. Lyle was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Hazelwood Gleason, son, Robert Joe Gleason and second wife, Joe Ann Richmond Gleason. He is survived by his son Lyle Edwin Gleason, Jr. (Jean); four grandchildren, Rhonda Egerton (Tim), Dianna Collinsworth (Brad), Kerry Dean Gleason, and Kimberly Deneen Cagle; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Bannister (Zack), Timothy James Egerton, Jr., Nichole Egerton, Kerry Douglas Gleason, Johnathan Ryan Gleason and Kristi Lynn Gleason; five great-great-grandchildren, Mekalah Jade and Keegan Glenn Bannister and Zane, Zoie and Maximus Gleason. He also leaves a sister, Irene Mannon, brother, Hugh Gleason and close friend Jean Geoghegan, who he thought of as his daughter and her husband, Pat. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 27, at 12:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
