(The identity of John Jr's father, John C. Hancock, is continuing to be researched. He could be John C. Hancock of St. Charles, MO who married 1) Serena Barton. Until determined otherwise, he is linked to this John C. Hancock It is also a possibility that he is an undocumented descendant of Lewis Ross Hancock, who was a cousin To John C. Hancock. At least two of Lewis Ross Hancock's children resided in Polk County in 1850: Benjamin Timothy Hancock and William Hancock.)
