Della married Barney Pickens Alexander October 26, 1909, at the home of her parents in Long Cove Community, Lampasas County, Texas. Della was a great cook and did nice handwork, but she and Barney did not get along. She would ask her brother Enoch to "talk to" Barney, but Barney did not respond well to this. Della and Barney divorced twice. They had two baby boys who died young. Their daughters were Velma Alexander Price and Juanita Alexander Whitley Stephens.
