She was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Beloit, Kan., to Dale and Dorothy (Waybright) Briney. She was a 1943 graduate of York High School, a member of the Legion Auxiliary and was the founder of the Yorktown Navy Mothers. Ruth had worked as a cook at Reids, York Country Club, York Legion Club and at the Camelot until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include five sons. Jerry(Melanie) Sikes of Ventura, Calif., Jack (Janet) Sikes of York, Jim Davis of York, John Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Randy Davis of Andover, Kan., two daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Richards of Lincoln and Barbara (Mike) Garcia of York; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three brothers, Richard (Helen) Briney of Beaver Crossing, Duane (Elaine) Briney of Lincoln and Jim (Pauline) Briney of Huntington CT.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin infant sons.
Funeral services will be held at Metz Chapel Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bobbie Gibbons officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery of York.
