The son of Frank Cave and Catherine Galbreath, he was an attorney, according to his death certificate which was signed by his second wife.
His first wife was Octavia Ficklin, a daughter of Prof. Joseph and Penelope (Terrill) Ficklin. They had 2 children: Catherine, married Malcolm McClellan of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Helen married Homer Teachenor of Shelbina, Mo.
Mr. Cave served 4 terms as mayor of Moberly, Missouri, 1895-1898, 1901-1902, and 1911-1912, elected annually, by the city council. (from 100th anniversary of Moberly, 1866-1966)
