ALVEY'S REST IN TWO GRAVES
Remains Of Family Burned To Death Buried In Hagerstown
Hagerstown Md, Dec 30, 1914
The funerals of Henry C Alvey, son of the late Richard H Alvey, chief judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals; his wife and three children, who were burned to death at Winter Haven, Fla, were held this afternoon. The remains were buried in two graves in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The charred bodies were in two caskets, the remains of the parents occupying one and the bodies of the three children in the other.

The bodies arrived here this morning accompanied by J A G Allen, a brother-in-law of Mr Alvey. Mr Alvey's mother, Mrs Julia H Alvey, is prostrated with grief and unable to accompany the bodies from Florida.

Upon arrival here the bodies were taken to the home of Mr Alvey's brother-in-law, J Vincent Jamison, Jr. Services were conducted in St John's Protestant Episcopal Church by the Rev S Hilton Orrick.

The honorary pallbearers were John E Stonebraker, Dr W Preston Miller, John B Kieffer, Richard Keedy, Harry Kaylor, Col Buchanan Schley, Col Charles A Little and Thomas B South, all of Hagerstown: Bruce Armstrong of Philadelphia and Duncan Bruce and M Tilton of Winter Haven. Mr Allen stated he was unable to account for the origin of the fire.
