Blanche M. Long, 102, of Jerry City, died at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.
She was born on February 13, 1910, in Jerry City, to the late Edward and Salina J. (McMahan) Meeker. She married Willard H. Long Sr. on September 16, 1927, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1993.
Blanche is survived by her sons: James F. (Patricia) Long of Cygnet and Willard (Geneva) Long Jr. of Jerry City; her daughters: Myrtle (Carl) Bohn of Norwalk and Lois (Max) Miller of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren: Linda Mowrey, Pamela Deckler, Russell Long, Marsha Smith, Cathy Bohn Lowry, Debra Foster, Carla Sattler, Jefri Bohn, Claudia Haas, Cheryl Nye, James Long Jr., Elizabeth Johnson, Daryl Long, Brenda Slattman, Kimberley Ringler, John Briggs, Lisa Shreve and Tracey Briggs; 32 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, James Briggs of Frost Proof, FL; and her daughter-in-law, Doris Long of Cygnet.
She was preceded in death by her son, Russell Long; her daughter, Fern "Sue" Briggs; her brothers: Charley, Clyde, Howard, Harold, Floyd, Glenn and Leo Meeker; her sisters: Hazel Warner, Orpha Meeker, Mary Lee and Isabelle Meeker; and her grandsons: Robert and Richard Long.
Blanche was a homemaker.
She was a member of the former Jerry City Church of Christ and now attended the Bowling Green Church of Christ.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Harold Driver officiating. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery, Portage Township. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowling Green Church of Christ and/or Bridge Home Health and Hospice and/or Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home.
