Preface of her book: (Excerpts)
This book is a desire of family members who attend the Jeffers reunion each summer, to know more about their ancestors and early American life. To them go my gratitude for filling out their family group sheets in detail and returning them to me.
For the descendants that do not find any information, or very little, I can only say that for 15 years I have been compiling this book and have depended on every descendant to send me information on their family. Some did not return their group sheets, some promised to, but failed to do so; some I was unable to locate. For the past 3 years my cousin, Bessie Hill has accompanied me to cemeteries and courthouses and has copied records for me. Was it not for her the chapter on Maggie Jeffers McAllister would not be complete.
And lastly, I want to thank my dear, understanding husband for permitting me to travel all over the country and for understanding my restless nature. Since starting genealogy 3 different rooms have been air conditioned and used as an office, to satisfy my changing whims. To add to all this he had made it financially possible for me to write this book, so that only the printed edition cost will be charged to me.

Dear Erma, A copy of your book ended up in Montgomery County, Ohio. I could not find a family tree online, but did find your memorial. I felt an overwhelming need to bring life to your genealogy. Find A Grave volunteers were kind enough to transfer your family memorials to me so I could add your photos and bios and link you all together. I really think you would just love it that your hard work, without internet, is appreciated by someone not related and did not know you. Although I now feel that I do know you. Mary Downing Mahan March 2, 2015.

Erma's grand-daughter, Robin Renee Berlt, is memorial #47271223 She died as a result of a single auto accident at age 15.
