She was born on February 1, 1929 in Cumberland County, KY to the late William Franklin and Ava Brake Bybee. She was a member of Burkesville First UMC, a member of the Burkesville Women's Club and a member of the Kentucky Dental Association Auxiliary.
She was a devout mother, grandmother and companion. She was united in marriage to Dr. Julius M. Stephenson on August 19, 1949 at the Columbia UMC by Dr. Victor P. Henry. She was a 1946 graduate of Columbia High School and a 1948 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College. She received her teaching certification from Bowling Green Business University and her master's degree from Western Kentucky University. She taught business and commerce at Bremen High School in Muhlenburg Co., Russell County High School in Jamestown, KY, Southern High School in Louisville and the Cumberland County School System in Burkesville, KY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Bybee and Geren Bybee.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. J.M. Stephenson; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John Glynn Stephenson and Pamela Stephenson; daughter, Dr. Mary Todd Stephenson; grandchildren, Madeline Jean and Kyle Miller Stephenson; one sister, Grace Dobbs; two nieces; three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home with burial in the Burkesville Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
