Samuel Taggart was born in Colrain, MA on 02-23-1818. He was the second child of Daniel and Lovina Fisk(e) Taggart. Before Samuel had reached his first birthday, his father passed away. At some time after that, Samuel was sent to live with Ruth Fisk(e) Bishop, his mother's younger sister in Shelburne MA. Lovina moved to Byron, NY to be a housekeeper for her brother, Levi Fisk(e). Samuel stayed with the Bishops until he was 21 years of age (abt. 1839), after which he went to Byron to be near his mother. She had married a widower named Benjamin Bacon who, by his first wife, had a daughter named Fanny. On 09-23-1843 Samuel married Fanny Bacon. Samuel and Fanny soon moved to Lenawee County, MI where their five children were born, including Lester (1844), Cordella (1847), Millard (1852), Rosa (1854) and Charles (1858). After living in Lenawee County for 20 years the Taggart family moved to an 80 acre farm in Ainger, Walton Township, Eaton County, MI. Samuel passed away there on 01-28-1868, just short of his 50th birthday. He is buried a few miles from his farm with other family members in the Olivet City Cemetery.

Much of this narrative was taken from notes made by Samuel's granddaughter, Ethel. Corrections would be welcomed. NOPELO
