DEATH'S RAVAGES
For the past two or three weeks death has been removing from our midst a number of the old and most respected citizens.
On Thursday, Oct. 15th, Mr. Josiah Critchfield, after a prolonged sickness, was called away. Mr. Critchfield was an old and honored citizen and lived in Lucas County for many years. His remains were laid to rest on Friday following his death.
Last Saturday night Mr. Jesse Lewis, another old and honored citizen, was called to rest, and on Sunday his remains were deposited in the City of the Dead.
In the death of these two old gentlemen Lucas County has sustained a great loss, and their families an irreparable one. The death of neither of them came unexpectedly, but death, no matter how or when, always creates a feeling of depression on a community, especially when the loss is of old and honored citizens.
